A natural occurring water requires a temperature of a minimum of 20°C when emerging from the spring to be defined as “thermal”, and must contain at minimum amount of 1 g dissolved minerals per liter according to German regulations.

Thermal bath

The beneficial effects of thermal baths are well-known since the ancient time, when men discovered the importance of water as an essential element for human life. Bathing in thermal waters is not just relaxing your muscles and relieving your joints, but is salutary for some dermatological problems (e.g. acne, psoriasis). The effects can be enhanced by adding extra ingredients like natural beer ingredients at the Thermal Beer Spa.

Inhalation

Thermal water inhalations have been traditionally used in the treatment of upper and lower chronic airway diseases. Inhalation therapies can be provided in different ways (e.g. irrigation, mist) and may have a mild anti-inflammatory effect on the airways.

Drinking cures

Drinking thermal water provides warmth from the inside according to Ayurvedic tradition. It may help the body cleansing process, which causes effective detoxification. In Széchenyi Spa the water supply for the bath is provided by the Saint Stephen Well Nr.II. This water is rich in calcium and magnesium, which contributes to the prevention of chronic stress and has beneficial anti-inflammatory effects on the digestive tract.

Mud packs

Numerous studies have demonstrated mud packs’s clinical benefits and its anti-inflammatory effects. It has been suggested that absorption through the skin of trace elements present in mineral water, especially in the sulphurous ones, and mud packs may affect the immune system.
